Denim Quality, Sizing and Style
Investing in a good pair of jeans can be worthwhile for many reasons, including, comfort, style and durability.
High-quality denim is often made from softer, more flexible fabric that moulds to your body over time, in a variety of cuts and styles to flatter different body types. Good quality denim is designed to last longer, which can save you money in the long run.

What Jeans Size Am I?
One of the most frequently asked questions at Anne Wilkinsons when our customers are buying jeans is “What jeans Size am I? We know it can feel overwhelming, we have been there ourselves. So we put a guide together to help you determine if your jeans fit correctly:
Your Jeans Waist Band
The waist should fit snugly without the need for a belt. You should be able to fit two fingers in the waist, but not much more.
The Jean Rise
The rise of your jeans can be based on your body type and personal preference:
High-rise Jeans: This waistline sits above your navel and natural waistline. Elongates your legs and provides more coverage.
Mid-rise Jeans: A versatile option that sits at your natural waist and is suitable for most body types.
Low-rise Jeans: Sits about 2″ below the navel and your natural waistline. This rise can create a more casual look.
The Jean Leg Fit and Length
Jeans should fit comfortably around the thighs without being too tight. If there’s too much fabric, you might want to try a size down. If you feel there is not enough fabric, but everywhere else fits perfectly you might want to have the thigh width tailored.
The length of your jeans can also add to the confusion. Some style and denim brands offer a range of leg lengths from petite to tall. If you find the length not quite to your liking we offer an in-house Alteration Service that can achieve that perfect look for you.
The Jean Pockets and Your Derrière
If the back of your jeans sags on your bottom, or if they dig into your crotch or upper thigh, we suggest trying a different size.
Different pocket styles on women’s jeans can significantly influence both the styling and the overall silhouette. For instance, larger back pockets can create the illusion of a smaller derrière, while higher or smaller pockets may enhance curves by drawing attention upwards. Flap pockets add dimension and detail, often giving a more casual, laid-back vibe, whereas sleek, minimalist pockets offer a streamlined, polished look.
Front pocket placement is equally impactful—angled pockets can highlight the waist, while deep or patch pockets add functionality and a touch of vintage charm. These subtle differences allow jeans to flatter various body shapes and complement diverse personal styles.
Denim Washes
Darker washes are generally better for a dressier look, while lighter washes have a more casual vibe.
